From Mendoza’s terroir to the big screen in the USA
Earlier this year, the dramatic comedy film “American Fiction” surprised us by incorporating a bottle of Luigi Bosca Malbec, our signature wine, in one of its key scenes. The film stood out in the film industry awards season, with numerous nominations at prestigious events such as the Toronto International Film Festival, the Golden Globes, the British Academy Film Awards and five nominations at the Oscars, including Best Picture.
The presence of Luigi Bosca Malbec in the film marks a milestone for the winery, highlighting our constant efforts to build the brand outside Argentina. We are currently present in more than sixty markets, with the United States being one of the three priority markets.
In the penetration of these markets, the recognition of specialized critics is essential. The outstanding ratings awarded by institutions such as IWC or James Suckling are crucial to continue expanding the international presence of our wines. In this sense, there is a curious parallelism between the scores awarded to each of our varietals and the awards that “American Fiction” is now beginning to accumulate.
The appearance of one of our wines in an Oscar-nominated film is not only a milestone, but also a recognition of so many years of dedication and winemaking excellence.
Thanks to this type of events, Argentine wine, especially Malbec, is gaining ground in the United States. For this reason, it is no coincidence that a Malbec was chosen for the film, underlining its positioning as Argentina’s emblematic grape variety.
The inclusion of one of our signature wines on the big screen is, in short, a reward for the dedication and meticulousness of the Arizu family, which has worked for four generations to highlight the essence of Mendoza wine and the particularities that only the terroir of Luján de Cuyo has to offer the world.
Just as the winery’s founders did, today we look into the future and find inspiration in this cinematographic milestone, reaffirming our commitment to quality and the unique narrative that characterizes our wines.
