Wine styles we will drink this summer
The world of wine is so broad and interesting that, just as there are various styles to accompany different drinking situations, there is also a perfect type for each time of the year. As the spring/summer season arrives, complex and well-bodied reds and oily whites aged in barrels no longer prevail at lunch and dinner. As meals are gradually lighter, we should also opt for white, rosé, or even lighter red wines that can be drunk at lower temperatures and enhance seasonal dishes.
Aromatic, fresh and medium-bodied whites
In summer, focus is placed on light wines that are smooth in the mouth, of good acidity, and rather citric or tropical ones, usually those made from Sauvignon Blanc and Torrontés. These are simple and easy to perceive wines that are perfect for casual situations, such as a sunset cocktail or an afternoon by the pool.
A great example is Luigi Bosca Sauvignon Blanc, a wine of loose aromas reminiscent of fresh white fruits, in which some citrus and floral notes can be perceived. Lively and refreshing on the palate, with a vibrant herbal note and very pleasant acidity.
We can also opt for more fruit at core and medium-bodied wines made from Chardonnay, not aged in wood, to pair light seasonal meals, like grilled fish, salads and sandwiches. Of this group, a wine that goes really well with casual seasonal meals is Luigi Bosca Chardonnay, thanks to its aromas of slightly tropical white fruits, its great volume and ripe fruit character.

Dry, elegant and versatile rosé wines for meals
Summer is also the rosé season, especially of those that are innovative, refreshing and very delicate, inspired by the elegant wines made in the region of Provence (France). These wines are perfect to pair with sushi, tiraditos, fried seafood, grilled oily fish, Neapolitan-style pizzas and chicken sandwiches.
A great example of the spirit of modern rosé wines is Luigi Bosca Rosé, an innovative, elegant and original wine conceived at the vineyard itself, made from the Pinot Noir variety. Its vibrant aromas, liveliness and freshness in the mouth, as well as its highly fruit at core and expressive character, makes it an ideal choice to drink in hot summer night meetings and celebrations.
Young and smooth reds
Years ago, summer used to be the exclusive season of white and rosé wines. Although these have not lost prominence, nowadays the Argentine wine industry is increasingly offering more light red wines of very good typicity, more suitable for light seasonal meals.
Unlike the full-bodied, broad and greedy wines we usually drink in winter, summer red wines are fresher, more lively and expressive, with tension and varietal purity can be perceived, such as Luigi Bosca Pinot Noir. In addition, these subtle and smooth wines are a great accompaniment to informal, everyday meals such as milanesas with mashed potatoes, grilled lean meats and dried pasta served with fileto.
